Windows 8- Quick look at Metro style design

Before release of Windows 8 expected to launch by November 2012, here’s quick review of its release preview known for its sleek and classic Swiss graphic design named “METRO”.

Metro style gallery for Facebook looks great. The whole user experience is re innovated. Flow is smooth, you will just love social networking experience on Windows 8.

The start menu

Again, the start menu is completely re innovated. The global search can search internet, store, computer, programs. Everything you need to operate your computer.

For now there are no paid apps. Microsoft and other developers have lot of expectations from Metro Style UI Design. A key design principle of Metro is better focus on the content of applications, relying more on typography and less on graphics. I am exploring few good apps. Will come up with metro style apps review in future blogs.Image

The innovation here is the fluidity of experience and focus on the data, without using traditional user interface conventions of windows and frames. Data becomes the visual elements and controls. Simple gestures and transitions guide the user deeper into content. A truly elegant and unique experience.
